A hybrid experience

For the first time, the entire event took place as a hybrid experience, combining the opportunities of attending in-person with all the advantages of a virtual event.

This year, after all the initial global lockdowns, a strong emphasis was placed on interaction between people: the hybrid format meant that people could physically meet while the platform also managed Events and Matchmaking supported by Artificial Intelligence.

There were 1,344 individual participants over the three days, including those that participated in person, and those that attended online, with an average of about 400 attendees per day.

The organizers are satisfied with this result: despite the difficulties that persist with regard to physical mobility as a result of the COVID pandemic, people from all over Europe, the United States and Asia attended.

Origami engineering nurtured by Japanese folding culture

Washi is virtually the world's first foldable paper. It is inevitable that Origami is born and nurtured in Japan. Origami consists of 4 types such as Courtesy Origami, Play Origami such as cranes and turtles, Modern Origami such as floor gate fold and Biomimetics Origami for Origami engineering. All of these four types of Origami have been born from Japan.
Thanks to Japan's isolation during the Edo period and a peaceful and prosperous era, art such as haiku, kabuki, and Noh peculiar to Japan was nurtured. Origami has long been a precious art and was not considered to be a target for money. But during World War II, British engineers developed a mass production method for honeycombs, inspired by Japanese Tanabata decorations which developed into a trillion yen industry.
This fact inspired us to start origami engineering in 2003 of which possibility will be discussed here. Read more

The "city of Palladio"

Universally known as the “City of Palladio”, Vicenza one of the most ancient cities in Veneto – strategically located in an area within a host of possibilities when it comes to culture, natural beauty, productive resources and wine and food culture, as well as small towns just waiting to be discovered.

This ‘picture perfect’  city is a real jewel to those visitors walk through the old town centre: they will discover a wealth of art which has inspired famous writers such as Goethe, Camus, Fogazzaro, and Goffredo Parise. The piazza dei signori is an obligatory stop with its Basilica Palladiana and Loggia del Capitaniato; while the Teatro Olimpico, the Rotonda and the Basilica di Monte Berico should also not be missed.

Vicenza has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994.
